Santi Cazorla is one of the most gifted players in the Premier League and his prolonged absence has undoubtedly been a major blow to Arsene Wenger’s hopes of success in the past two seasons at Arsenal.
The 77-cap Spanish international is the type of player Wenger looks to to set the tempo of the Gunners’ passing play and his ability to play at the base of midfield as well as operate further forward would have bolstered the Frenchman’s options.
Unfortunately for Cazorla, Wenger and the Arsenal fans, it has not been possible to get the diminutive playmaker onto the pitch this season.
However, at some point every player – regardless of their talent – becomes more of a burden to their employer than an asset when they are unable to contribute on the pitch.
