Manchester United fans will be hoping the club spends big again this year in an attempt to close the gap at the top of the Premier League to neighbours City.

Jose Mourinho has spent over £100m in both of his summer transfer windows so far at United and it looks as though that trend will continue in 2018. United fans have been pleading with Mourinho for a more attacking brand of football and the Portuguese boss may feel he needs to add to his squad to do that.

We asked the United faithful who they thought the Red Devils should be looking to sign this summer. Check out their wishlist of top talent in the results of our poll here...

4. Alex Sandro

With Ashley Young reinventing his career as a left-back, opportunities were hard to come by for Luke Shaw, Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind at United last season and all three look like they could be on their way out of Old Trafford this summer.

One man the United fans want to challenge Young for his starting spot is Juventus's 27-year-old left-back Alex Sandro. The Brazilian is valued at €45m by Transfermarkt and managed four goals and four assists in 26 Serie A matches last season.

3. Fred (Already signed)

United fans will be happy that the club have already wrapped up the signing of the third most popular player in our poll, Fred, from Shakhtar Donetsk for £52m.

The Brazilian international operates best as a dynamic, box-to-box midfielder where he can influence both defence and attack. A midfield three of Matic holding, with Fred and Pogba either side of the Serbian will have United fans itching with excitement for next season.

2. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

Valued at €90m by Transfermarkt, 23-year-old Milinkovic-Savic is another box-to-box midfielder that United are looking to add to their squad this summer.

Currently at Lazio, the 6ft4 Serbian played 48 matches in all competitions last season, scoring 14 goals and creating nine assists for the Rome-based side.

1. Gareth Bale

The transfer rumour that just won't die. It's clear that United fans are keen for their club to sign Real Madrid's Welsh galactico.

Bale dropped a hint that he may be looking for a move just after he had won the Champions League for Madrid, saying that he needed to be playing regular football, something he wasn't getting during Zidane's time as Los Blancos boss. We're yet to learn whether the 28-year-old will be in Julen Lopetegui's plans but United fans will be praying they can turn his head.
