Rival fans suggest Mourinho’s new Manchester United deal is financially-motivated

Manchester United fans have had a very positive week given that they managed to snatch Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez from Manchester City’s clutches.

Now, their manager Jose Mourinho has signed a contract extension until at least 2020.

The Portuguese coach has never before stayed at a club for longer than three years, but it seems as though he sees his future at Old Trafford.

Since becoming Louis van Gaal’s permanent successor in the summer of 2016, Mourinho has guided the Red Devils to two trophies – the EFL Cup and Europa League.

The intention for his second season in charge was to launch a serious title bid in the Premier League, but Manchester City have stormed ahead and currently hold a 12-point advantage.

In theΒ official statement, the manager claimed that he and his team have been creating the “conditions for a brilliant and successful future” for United.

Understandably, the club’s fans are thrilled that Mourinho, who has won league titles at four other clubs, has committed his future at the North-West outfit.

Rival supporters, however, cynically think that the new contract has been signed so that the manager will receive a much bigger payout when he leaves.
