Robben backs Depay to shine away from Man United

Memphis Depay hasn’t quite had things his own way since leaving Dutch football for Manchester United and the former PSV Eindhoven man has been regularly overlooked by Jose Mourinho this season, suggesting his time at Old Trafford could be over.

With just two league goals to his name and no assists, Depay has struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League and seems likely to leave Manchester United next month- but that could be the making of the Dutch international.

That is the view of international colleague Arjen Robben, who has backed Depay to shine if he departs Mourinho’s side in January. Quoted by Goalthe Bayern Munich ace said:

“He is a very talented player. t’s a pity it didn’t work at Manchester until now. He’s playing very few matches. I’m expecting something to happen next time, maybe he will make a move in the winter break.”

Having played just 42 minutes of Premier League football this season and not appearing in the league since the end of October, it seems Mourinho has completely lost faith in the £25m man but, still just 22, there is plenty of time for Depay to shine in the future.
