Senior Man United star ready to take salary cut to leave this month

Victor Valdes is ready to sacrifice around £500,000 in wages to force a move away from Manchester United this month, according to reports from the Daily Star.

The veteran Spaniard is currently in exile at the club, with a summer fall-out with manager Louis van Gaal having resulted in the ex-Barcelona man being banished from first-team duty and made to train away from other senior players.

It’s understood that Valdes has already been told that he’s allowed to leave the club on a free transfer if he’s able to find a suitable club to join, and now reports claim that he’s even willing to sacrifice some of the cash owed to him to end his Manchester nightmare.

The 33-year-old was initially looking to have the remainder or his contract paid in full – close to £2m – but in a bid to get away and start playing again he’s willing to reduce that sum by £500,000.

Given his wealth or experience at both club and international level, the Spaniard is not short of admirers, with Mexican club Cruz Azul thought to be interested.
