Serie A title contenders Napoli are keen on bringing Manchester United defender Guillermo Varela to Italy next month, according to the Manchester Evening News.
The 22-year old recently made his debut for the Red Devils amid their injury crisis, even appearing in the Champions League.
However, it’s been a long road to the first-team for the Uruguayan who joined the club as a teenager from Penarol in 2013.
He was the first player to arrive under David Moyes, but spent last term on loan at Real Madrid Castilla, coached by footballing legend Zinedine Zidane.
Now, the full-back has emerged as a target for the Italian giants as they bid to win Serie A for the first time since the Diego Maradona days.
The likes of Antonio Valencia and Matteo Darmian are ahead of him in the pecking order when all options are available, despite his recent run of games under Louis van Gaal.
