Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw has had to experience some public lambasting from his manager Jose Mourinho over the last couple of seasons.

The England international's dedication and fitness has been heavily questioned by the Portuguese coach in the media.

Shaw earned a move to Old Trafford from Southampton in 2014, but after his double leg break the following year, the left-back has struggled.

The 22-year-old was behind the rest of his teammates in terms of fitness this season as he was recovering from another injury spell.

Once again, the young player had a tough time trying to break into Mourinho's team, but recently, there has been a turnaround.

Shaw has played in five of United's seven Premier League games in 2018, and in his last eight appearances in all competitions, the left-back has completed the full 90 minutes.

It seems that Mourinho has changed his mind about the player, as The Mirror reports that Shaw, who has 18 months left on his current contract, is in line to earn a new long-term deal before the end of the season.

The reaction to this news has been largely positive from United fans.
