Manchester United’s transfer link to striker Radamel Falcao is no surprise to Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone.
As we reported this week claims by Spanish sports daily Marca suggested that United had already made contact with Estadio Vicente Calderon officials, regarding a possible £50million deal for the 27-year-old, who is also a top target for Manchester City and Chelsea.
And, while Simeone was not fazed by the latest bout of speculation surrounding the prolific Colombia striker, the Argentinian claims it is natural that a club of United’s stature would be looking at Falcao.
“Falcao is a great player and it’s logical that the best teams in the world are interested in him. It doesn’t surprise me,” he told reporters.
Chelsea were thought to be leading the race so they will be disappointed if news of United’s talks are true, while Real Madrid’s hopes of signing Falcao will be scuppered because Los Colchoneros do not want to sell to their Spanish capital rivals.
If Falcao does join United it would no doubt raise question marks as to which current forward will be allowed to leave to make way?
Reports on Thursday are suggesting Wayne Rooney could be offloaded despite boss Sir Alex Fergsuon recently stressing that the England international is going nowhere.
