‘Simply the best’, claims United boss after convincing victory

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal believes that his side’s dominant 3-0 victory over Hull City in the Premier League on Saturday was their best performance of the campaign.

Goals from Wayne Rooney, Chris Smalling and Robin van Persie secured the Red Devils all three points at Old Trafford, and in truth the home side were never under any serious threat from Hull, as United enjoyed 76% of possession.

“It was the best match of our season,” Van Gaal said.

“What pleased me the most was the way we dominated the game from the first minute to the last minute. It was the first time we have done that.

“We created many chances, we did not give the ball away too much unnecessarily and we kept a clean sheet again.”

United’s third successive league win ensured that they remained in fourth place in the table with 22 points. Next up for van Gaal’s men is a midweek home tie against Stoke City.
