SIX January transfers to rejuvenate Manchester United

The ‘transition’ period may be becoming football’s greatest excuse for below par performances, but it is actually fair to say that Manchester United are currently immersed in such a state of affairs. Seeing the back of Sir Alex Ferguson was always going to be difficult, but now the iconic Scot’s true abilities and influence are truly being recognised.

David Moyes has stepped in, and after a few poor results and performances in the opening months of the campaign – including a 1-0 loss to bitter rivals Liverpool and a shock 2-1 defeat at the hands of West Brom at Old Trafford – things are beginning to pick up for the defending Premier League champions.

Wayne Rooney has returned to the fold and appears to be revelling in life under his new boss, while Robin van Persie is beginning to show signs of the form that saw him fire the Red Devils to league glory in his debut campaign, but it’s hard to deny that there is something missing at Old Trafford.

After seeing a number of transfer targets escape his grasp during the last window, the United chief is believed to be ready to step up his plans the winter and is rumoured to have a vast ‘warchest’ at his disposal to fund multiple moves. There are a number of top drawer players that he may opt to sign, and here are six that could rejuvenate the club.
