Uruguay left-back Diego Laxalt is a wanted man by some Manchester United supporters after helping Uruguay into the quarter-finals of the World Cup with a 2-1 win over Portugal on Saturday night.
Edinson Cavani was the national hero of the evening for the South Americans after his superb double, but Laxalt also caught the eye with his industrious display on the left flank that contributed to an excellent defensive performance.
Playing his club football at Serie A side Genoa, where he is a regular, the defender is now being touted as a potential solution to United’s left-back woes of recent seasons.
Winger Ashley Young has had to play the position on a regular basis at Old Trafford recently, with the likes of Luke Shaw not trusted by Jose Mourinho to perform at the top level.
Is Laxalt the answer for the Red Devils moving forward?
These Man United fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on a potential switch after his Saturday performance…

On that performance I’d take Laxalt at #MUFC Proper left back and that South American style blood and thunder, giving all for his team!

OPEN LETTER TO MANCHESTER UNITED BOARD
After watching the #URUPOR, Uruguay Vs. Portugal, I fell in love with D. Laxalt. I already see the man in a red jersey. Dear board, sign the young man.
Thank you in anticipation.
A concerned fan.

Laxalt will be a sensible signing for United in that left back role. Mourinho won't have to worry about a footballer being fit & motivated and being called a bully for asking for those thing serious footballers bring to the table everyday.
