Star in the making: Man United fans loved Mason Greenwood’s first start

Manchester United fans on Twitter loved Mason Greenwood’s first ever start for the club against Cardiff.

Despite going a goal down to the already relegated Bluebirds, the 17-year-old gave Old Trafford a lift due to his exciting display – Greenwood hit the post, almost grabbing an immediate equaliser in the process.

The teenager has hit 26 goals and recorded 8 assists in 29 games for United’s youth team this season, showing that he can score goals with both feet; he is equally adept on either foot, and scored a 30-yard freekick against Newcastle on his supposedly weaker left side.

With his start against Neil Warnock’s team, Greenwood became the youngest ever player to start a Premier League game for the Red Devils at 17 years and 223 days old, beating Federico Macheda’s record.

He looked like the only player who was trying on the day as United eventually slipped to an embarrassing 2-0 defeat, so let’s see what their supporters have been saying about the academy graduate…
