The 26-year-old has struggled to live up to the lofty tag of being the next Cristiano Ronaldo and was involved in a contract dispute with the Premier League Champions back in April, demanding £100,000- a- week in a new deal.
A number of Europe’s leading clubs have been linked with securing his signature, including: PSG, Real Madrid, Juventus and Arsenal; but a move to the Stadio Olympico now appears to be the most likely according to Nani’s agent Jorge Mendes.
“Will he go to Roma? Why not?” He told Radio Mana.
“Serie A is one of the best leagues in the world and Rome is a beautiful city. There is the possibility that he will leave United, but at the minute nothing is concrete.”
The Red Devils could be tempted by an offer in the region of £10million for a player who only has 12 months remaining on his contract; especially as incoming boss David Moyes has given Nani no reassurances of regular first-team football next season.
Antonio Valencia, new signing Wilfried Zaha and Ashley Young’s return from injury means there will be stiff competition for a place on the wing.
Any deal would be a huge loss for United, who signed the player for £20million along with Anderson back in 2007.
