According to reports from The Daily Mail, Manchester United are in talks with Timothy Fosu-Mensah about securing his long-term future at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils snapped up the versatile youngster from Ajax in 2014 and issued him a first-team debut last season.

The 18-year-old, who can operate as a full-back, a centre-half or a central midfielder, went on to register ten appearances across all competitions and earned rave reviews for the maturity he displayed.

And there had been murmurings that the Dutch prodigy would be included after being asked to train with United’s U21 string alongside Bastian Schweinsteiger, Will Keane, James Wilson, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, Andreas Pereira, Paddy McNair, Tyler Blackett and Adnan Januzaj – all of whom have been tipped to leave Old Trafford before the summer transfer window closes.

But according to The Daily Mail, the Red Devils have assured the Netherlands U19 that he is part of Mourinho’s plans and they’re now looking to agree a new contract.

Although he may still go out on loan, Fosu-Mensah has been tipped stay on at Old Trafford as Matteo Darmian’s deputy at right-back this season.
