Manchester United fans have taken to Twitter to slam Alexis Sanchez, after the forward took to his Instagram to apologise for the club's dismal season.

Sanchez and his teammates endured a turbulent campaign under both Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to eventually finish sixth in the table, and closer to the relegation zone than the top of the table in terms of points.

Almost every one of the United players disappointed this term, but Sanchez was amongst the worst performers and did practically nothing; to make matters worse, he is the highest earner at the club on a reported £400,000-a-week contract.

The Chile international also hit just a single league goal. Despite that, he should be commended for coming out and issuing a heartfelt apology to the supporters, something that can't be said of his teammates.

United fans on Twitter do not feel the same way, however, and have been busy criticising the former Arsenal man, somewhat unfairly given his thoughtful sentiment...
