Striker available… Man United to start transfer scrap

Manchester United are set to kick off a summer transfer scramble by making James Wilson available for a loan deal, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The 19-year-old hit-man has featured in Louis van Gaal’s first-team squad this season, and has even been picked ahead of Radamel Falcao on a few occasions.

But despite his promise, United are thought to see a temporary move away from Old Trafford as beneficial for the teenager, with gaining regular Premier League minutes good for his development.

As a result, a loan deal to a rival side in England’s top tier appears to be on the cards, alerting clubs such as Newcastle, Everton, West Brom and Stoke.

United want Wilson to go to a settled team where he will be given chances, which could be a blow for the Magpies, whose managerial situation is far from clear.

The youngster has made 16 appearances this season, netting two goals.
