Manchester United’s summer capture of PSV’s Memphis Depay initially looked like a quality bit of business.
The Netherlands international arrived at Old Trafford in a £25million deal after a hugely impressive season for PSV, where he scored 22 Eredivisie goals.
But since his arrival he’s only really enjoyed one game for the Red Devils when he scored a brace against Clube Brugge in United’s Champions League qualifier. In the Premier League he’s failed to make any real impact and Louis van Gaal side’s attacking threat has suffered as a result.
Tonight Depay returns to PSV with Man United to try and finally announce himself at the club, but the stats already show he’s having a similar impact in England as he did in Holland, just without the usual results.
The infographic below – supplied by www.oulala.com – shows that this season Depay has a better pass completion rate, a higher take on success rate and has completed more successful passes per game than he did for PSV last term.
So although he doesn’t have a Premier League goal or assist to his name yet, he’s still pretty much the same player he was last term. Though that might have something to do with his worse shot accuracy this season. There’s still to improve that, however…
