The Senegal international emerged as a surprise late target for the Red Devils as the transfer window just gone ticked to its close following an impressive start to his Saints career.
Mane starred for the South Coast side last term, and grabbed headlines when he netted the fastest ever Premier League hat-trick in the red and white shirt during a 6-1 win against Aston Villa.
Although United’s interest was mooted to be strong, the pacey winger stayed put, and has now told the Daily Echo that he’s perfectly content at St Mary’s Stadium and is no longer thinking about a move:
“In football we always have, like this, many of you move but I have a contract with Southampton.
“I’m happy here, the fans like me, which means I’m doing my job properly.
“I’m happy here – that’s the most important (thing).”
Mane’s form this term suggests that he has not been unsettled by the speculation surrounding his future last month, with the wide-man having netted four goals in all competitions.
