As reported by Portuguese outlet Record, Manchester United are prepared to meet teenage sensation Joao Felix's eye-catching £105m release clause in a bid to gain the upper hand for his signature.

The 19-year-old is wanted by a host of Europe's top clubs, including Real Madrid and United's rivals Manchester City, although it has been reported that the Red Devils have already opened talks with Benfica for the playmaker's signature.

Could Harry Maguire be on his way to Old Trafford? Check out the video below to see why it would make so much sense...

Felix has hit 20 goals and recorded 11 assists in just his first campaign as part of the senior set-up at Benfica, which has quite rightfully drawn attention to his vast array of talents.

£105m is a lot of money for anyone, let alone a teenager, so are United right to be willing to meet that sum in order to land this precocious talent? Football FanCast's writer's have their say...

Matt Dawson

"Joao Felix is an absolutely phenomenal player but this is classic United. If they think they can get themselves out of the mess they're in by signing a player for £105m they need to think again. Strengthening in attack isn't exactly top of their priorities and those funds would be far better spent in rebuilding the defence. Despite the potential Felix has, this a deal they should be going nowhere near."

Harry Sherlock

"This is United flexing their financial muscles as they desperately attempt to divert attention away from the shambles in the boardroom. There has been a lack of direction in the transfer window in recent years but spending £105m on a 19-year-old is nothing short of absolute negligence. Sure, they think that they’re going to pick up a generational talent before another club swoops in but let’s not kid ourselves here: Felix could be absolutely ruined by this deal. He is almost certain to be a superstar eventually but he could well wilt under the pressure of such a price tag. United should stay as far away from this deal as possible, both for their sake and the player’s."

Luke Glanville

"Manchester United have taken too many expensive gambles on attacking talents in recent times and they should be very wary with this one. We can all see the potential Felix has, but the Red Devils should let another team make the mistake of paying that amount for the 19-year-old. £105 million, even in today's inflated market, is way too much to pay for a player that young and unproven in a top league. Don't be stupid Woodward, avoid Felix."
