According to a fresh report from Le Parisien, Manchester United are still keen on signing Belgian international right-back Thomas Meunier from PSG this summer.

The 28-year-old defender's contract is due to expire in June and that would mean that the Red Devils could swoop in and get their man completely free of cost.

But, as the same source outlines, there are also two other unnamed Premier League clubs that could also be interested, and the same could be said for the likes of Juventus, Inter Milan and Bayern Munich.

As things stand, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could face some big competition for Meunier's signature.

But looking at the player in question and what he could possibly bring to the table, it becomes evident that the Belgian would offer something completely different to Man United's current option, Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

However, with Meunier only taking part in 13 games in the ongoing Ligue 1 campaign with just 974 minutes under his belt, 2019/20 is not a good sample for comparison.

Instead, we'll focus solely on their respective domestic league performances in 2018/19, back when Man United's star was still at Crystal Palace.

Even when Paris Saint-Germain's man was playing more regular football, the Englishman managed to muster almost double Meunier's game time with 3135 minutes vs the Belgian's 1615.

And between the two, Was-Bissaka appears to be the superior defender as he completed 3.7 tackles and 2.4 interceptions per game last season, as opposed to his counterpart's two tackles and 0.8 interceptions per game.

Naturally, being taller than United's star, Meunier was somewhat more successful in the air, beating Wan-Bissaka's 1.2 aerial duels won with his 1.5 per game.

But if Solskjaer does eventually manage to secure him, the 28-year-old can offer something different to United's current first choice option.

Even though he didn't tally anywhere near the same amount of minutes in 2018/19, Meunier still managed to score three goals and assist three in the process as well, completely outperforming his rival's three assists and no goals.

Not only that but his 0.9 key passes per game edged out Wan-Bissaka's 0.4, which is further proof of his superior attacking contribution.

So for that reason, Meunier could be a good addition to the current Red Devils and one that would potentially bring a new dimension to their attacking tactics in general.

And that's without even mentioning the fact he's scored seven goals in 40 games for the Belgium national side.

United could inject an extra layer of attacking impetus into their squad with a summer move for Meunier.
