Turkish giants eye Man United star as Mourinho looks to axe midfield icon (not Mata)

Manchester United are actively trying to sell World Cup winning midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger just a year after he joined the club, report the Sun.

The 31-year old Bayern Munich icon arrived at Old Trafford after calling an end to an illustrious career with the Bavarian giants, though has struggled for form and fitness.

Doubts about his fitness were raised by Pep Guardiola upon his departure from the Allianz Arena and it appears those fears have been realised by the Red Devils.

He made 31 appearances for the club, though largely off the bench, and was only able to muster one goal.

Now, new boss Jose Mourinho is understood to be keen to sell him on as he plots a major overhaul at the Theatre of Dreams.

Turkish giants Fenerbahce have been touted as a potential landing spot for a man who has widely been considered as one of the elite midfielders on the continent for much of the last decade.
