Wayne Rooney has told his Manchester United team mates to stop conceding early in games, saying that it is giving their opponents, “a head start'”.
United have gone behind first in matches six times so far this season. They also conceded first on Tuesday night in their Champions League game against CFR Cluj, despite the fact that Sir Alex Ferguson had said they would not make the same mistake again.
Although they went on t win 2-1, Rooney admitted that the problem with conceding early is worrying the team.
“It does bother us having to come from behind because we are losing those early goals.
“It is not nice and it is something that we have to stop because we cannot afford to keep letting teams get a head start on us, especially in the Champions League because it is difficult to win in the game anyway.
“We have to make sure we are more solid and hopefully we can be in future games,” he said.
Rooney set up both of the goals in Tuesday’s Champions League win while Manchester United’s next match is in the premier League, away at Newcastle United this Sunday.
