The Independent are reporting that Valencia defender Nicolas Otamendi has told the club that he wants his future sorted before 27 July, as the Argentinian continues to be linked with a big-money move to Manchester United.
Valencia are due back for pre-season training at the end of the month, and while Otamendi may very well still be at the club when the squad regroups, the 27-year-old has told friends and family that not only is he prepared to leave the Spanish city, he is also willing to go on strike to force through a move.
Los Ches insist that they will only sell if a club meets Otamendi’s £35 million release clause.
The centre back has been omitted from Valencia’s marketing campaign for next season’s kit, which was launched on Thursday, leading to speculation that a transfer is imminent.
Otamendi has been heavily linked with a move to the Red Devils, with United boss Louis van Gaal keen to strengthen his side’s defence.
