Van Persie urges Manchester United star to stay

Wayne Rooney Robin Van Persie (Manchester United)Robin van Persie has urged wantaway Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney to stay at the club, according to reports from Sky Sports.

The England international has made little secret of his frustrations with life at Old Trafford this summer, and is thought to be keen on a switch to Premier League rivals Chelsea.

‘Wazza’ was dropped for a number of high profile fixtures under former coach Sir Alex Ferguson last term, including the home leg of the Champions League clash with Real Madrid.

Despite reports that now manager David Moyes is keen to keep the Liverpudlian, Rooney himself still sees his future away from the club.

But, van Persie has now waded into the saga in an attempt to convince his strike partner to stay:

“Everyone wants Wayne to stay and deep down I think he feels the same.” He told The Sun.

“One of the reasons I joined Manchester United was to play with Wayne.

“I hope he stays. Not only is he a great goalscorer, he does so much work across the pitch.

Rooney’s form has declined slightly over the course of the past few seasons, but van Persie believes that the versatile attacker will be back to his best soon:

“He hates to lose and that’s why you see him one minute pressing for goal, the next minute defending ferociously. He is an asset to any team.

“He will come good again. He is a strong lad.”

Will Wayne Rooney stay at Manchester United? Or does he need a change of scenery?
