October is the month of Halloween but, instead of lasting just one day, it seems Manchester United’s horrors span the course of the entire month.
Chelsea’s 4-0 victory over the Red Devils yesterday brought an early fright to United fans, who had already seen enough following a drab performance against Liverpool last week, but the stats after the game show the defeat wasn’t simply a blip in their campaign.
4 – All four of Man Utd's heaviest PL defeats have come in October. Red.

The month of October has not been good for Manchester United in the Premier League, with their four heaviest defeats all coming in the tenth month of the calendar year.
A 6-1 derby defeat to Manchester City in October 2011 stands out and United’s 5-0 defeat to Newcastle United back in 1996 also took place in October, as did a 5-0 defeat to Chelsea back in 2000.
Not only that though, United’s 6-3 defeat to Southampton took place in the same month back in 1996 and so did a 4-1 loss to Middlesbrough in 2005.
Those six fixtures all stand-out as some of the heaviest defeats inflicted upon Manchester United in the Premier League and the Red Devils will hope their October curse doesn’t strike again this weekend, when they host Burnley.
