Galatasaray winger Bruma has revealed that Jose Mourinho told him he was “impressed” with his performance when the Turkish side slipped to a 5-2 pre-season friendly loss at the hands of Manchester United.
The 21-year-old wide man has often been talked about as one of the top emerging players in his position in Europe, but his career has stagnated since a 2013 move to Gala from Sporting CP.
Bruma is back in Istanbul after a season on loan at Real Soceidad and featured for his side in their loss to Man United.
The youngster scored against the Red Devils with a fine effort from the edge of the box, and speaking to O Jogo he revealed that after the game Mourinho heaped praise on him:
“Mourinho told me he was impressed with my performance and that if I continue I will get back into the Portugal national team.
“Of course it was amazing to hear this from Mourinho and he said he will keep an eye on how I do this season.”
Bruma has been capped at every level by Portugal from U-15 to U-21, but has yet to be called up to the European Champions’ at senior level.
