Gareth Bale could be ready to turn his back on Real Madrid in just over 12 months’ time if he cannot turn things around, with Manchester United a potential destination for the ex-Tottenham ace, according to the The Mirror.
The Welshman is currently the most expensive footballer in the history of the game following his £86m switch to Spain’s capital in 2013, and has enjoyed a successful spell at the Bernebeu, helping Los Blancos to lift their 10th European Cup last term.
However, this season has not been the dream Bale had hoped for, with large sections of Real’s supporters beginning to question his abilities – he has one goal in his last nine games.
Although times are tough, the 25-year-old is keen to attempt to get things back on course by giving his Real spell another year, but if he cannot win over the doubters, a return to England is his desire.
This will put United on red alert, with Louis van Gaal’s side having been linked with a world record £120m offer for Bale over the winter.
