Middlesbrough v Stoke – Confirmed XIs

The Premier League is back and with that we get a look at another of the new boys this afternoon, Middlesbrough, who have turned heads with some big name signings this summer. But Aitor Karanka face a tough start with the visit of the ever impressive Stoke City.

The boys from the Riverside will be without Grant Leadbitter who is recovering from hernia surgery, whilst James Husband misses out with a dislocated shoulder.

Boro fans will be excited to see their new boys, with the likes of Negredo making the move back to the Premier League, and this is the XI that will begin their return to the top flight:

Stoke are looking to break the barrier of 9th place in what will be a very tough season to do so, but could get their season off to a flyer with a win here.

The Potters have added cannily over the summer, with the aquisition of Joe Allen from Liverpool. However, they go into the season without Jack Butland, who is still carrying his injury from the tail end of last season, Stephen Ireland who misses out with a broken leg and Ibrahim Afellay with a long-term knee ligament injury.
