Mourinho opens door to Premier League return

Real Madrid manager Jose MourinhoReal Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has hinted that he would like to return to Premier League management by declaring his “love” for English football.

The Portuguese coach has been linked with the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea recently, with his time in Spain appearing to be nearing its end.

Rumoured rows with first-team regulars Iker Casillas and Sergio Ramos have seen ‘The Special One’ booed by the clubs supporters and criticised in the media.

During the summer he entertained the idea of returning to England in a bid to solidify his position at the Bernabeu, but this time he is thought to be lining up his next job.

Speaking during the FA’s 150th anniversary event, Mourinho declared his respect and admiration for football in the country:

“There couldn’t be a better place to go. In England, you feel the real passion for the game.” He is quoted by The Mirror.

“In England, it’s not just about passion for clubs, it’s mainly about passion for football – and you feel it.”

“If you are in England and you play in England, you feel it. You feel everything. You feel the passion. You feel that it’s clean, you feel proud to be in football – even in the worst moments.

“That’s pure football. That’s the football you played as a kid in the street, transported through time and space into organised competition and into the real world of football.”

He went on to state his love for English football, hinting that he would consider a return:

“From the bottom of my heart, if somebody who is not English is in love with the English game, I am the first to be.”

Mourinho won two Premier League titles and an FA Cup with Chelsea between 2004 and 2007.
