Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi has heaped praise upon Gunners team-mate and compatriot Mesut Ozil, telling Goal he can ‘do anything he wants’ with his deadly left foot.
Mostly renowned for his playmaking abilities, having earned a staggering 19 assists in the Premier League last season, Ozil has found form in front of goal this season and has found the net seven times in all competitions- just one shy of his best ever tally for the Gunners.
Arsenal have benefitted from this new-look Ozil and stand unbeaten in 16 matches across all competitions, with Mustafi impressed with the displays shown by his international and club colleague.
“He has the skills, vision, intelligence, quality. Mesut’s left foot can play every pass he wants. He has so much quality but the most important thing is that he is willing to show it on the pitch.”
“Sometimes you see players with so much quality but they can’t produce on the pitch. That’s what makes big players – putting their talent on the pitch.”
24-year-old Mustafi is preparing for a World Cup Qualifying match against San Marino this week before clashing with Italy in a high-profile friendly, whilst Ozil was rested for the latest Germany squad and should be fresh after the international break for the Gunners’ huge clash with Manchester United.
