Newcastle and Tottenham plot Championship raid

Tom Ince (Blackpool)Newcastle are preparing a January move to beat Tottenham to the signature of Blackpool winger Tom Ince, according to reports from The Metro.

The Magpies were the only Premier League side not to spend during the summer, with Loic Remy – who joined on loan from relegated QPR – their only arrival.

But, manager Alan Pardew and director of football Joe Kinnear are already planning to up their activity when the transfer window re-opens, and have made Ince their top target.

The England U-21 international has been a long-term target for Tottenham, and is rumoured to have turned down a late £10m move to White Hart Lane.

The 21-year-old is said to be willing to leave the Seasiders, but only if he has a genuine chance of regular first-team football in the top flight.

Newcastle are hopeful that they can pip their rivals to his signature by offering a greater prospect of a starting berth.

Ince’s current contract at Bloomfield Road is set to expire at the end of the season, meaning that he could be available for a reduced fee in January.

Blackpool are desperate to keep hold of the talented youngster for as long as possible, but a £4m offer could be enough to push through a move.

Would Newcastle be a better choice than Tottenham for Tom Ince?
