Familiar faces have been returning to football coaching this week, with Alan Pardew being officially appointed as the new manager of West Bromwich Albion.

The 56-year-old has been out of work since December last year when he was sacked by Crystal Palace.

Pardew is now Tony Pulis's successor at The Hawthorns, and alongside him is assistant coach John Carver.

Both worked together at Newcastle United before Carver replaced Pardew as temporary manager at St James' Park until the end of the 2014-15 season.

The 52-year-old managed to guide the Magpies to safety in the Premier League, but ended up leaving the club in the summer to make way for Steve McClaren.

Carver had an eight-month spell in charge of Cypriot team Omonia, but after being sacked in February of this year, the Newcastle-born coach has been away from the spotlight.

Following the announcement of Carver's arrival at The Hawthorns, Newcastle fans tweeted their reaction.
