Aleksandar Mitrovic struggled to make an impression under Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez, and as a result was sent on loan to Fulham in February.

The transfer turned out to be a positive one for the player as he went from being a fringe player at St James' Park to being a pivotal figure in the Cottagers' promotion fight.

In 13 outings for Fulham, Mitrovic has scored 12 goals and created a single assist to help the club move up to third in the Championship table.

Islam Slimani was brought in on loan from Leicester City in January, but he has only featured four times and he could land himself in some trouble following this afternoon's Premier League match against West Bromwich Albion.

It was a disappointing day all round for the Magpies as they suffered a 1-0 loss, and it was compounded by Slimani's behaviour.

While in the box, the forward kicked out at West Brom's Craig Dawson, and as the referee did not spot it at the time, the Newcastle striker could be hit with a retrospective ban.

Upon reflection, Newcastle fans feel that the club should have stuck by Mitrovic.
