The powerful midfielder is set to leave Newcastle United following their relegation to the Championship at the end of last season.
There is plenty of interest in the France international, particularly after his dominant performance in the Euro 2016 final, with The Telegraph reporting earlier this week that Everton and Juventus are both prepared to meet the Magpies’ lofty £35million valuation.
But there has been a fresh twist in the race to sign the 26-year-old, amid news that Real Madrid are also considering a summer swoop.
However, the Bernabeu outfit are far more reluctant to pay Newcastle’s valuation of Sissoko and are considering bringing it down by offering a Real Madrid player on loan.
Sissoko moved to Tyneside for a £1.5million fee in January 2013, following six campaigns at French club Toulouse.
