With the Newcastle United senior team struggling for goals in the Premier League, plenty of the St James’ Park faithful are desperate for the Magpies’ youth level goal machine, Elias Sorensen, to make the grade at the club.
The 19-year-old has scored five goals and provided one assist in seven Premier League 2 outings for the Newcastle under-23 side so far this season. He has also notched two strikes in two outings in the EFL trophy for Peter Beardsley’s young development squad. All stats come courtesy of Transfermarkt.
The Denmark under-19 international began his career in his homeland with HB Koge, coming through their youth academy set up. Sorensen made five appearance for the HBK senior side before his switch to Tyneside in 2016. During the 2015/16 Danish First Division campaign, the striker became HBK’s youngest ever first team debutant when he came on off the bench against Silkeborg IF.

Despite his youth, the Dane is already an impressive physical and aerial presence on the pitch, and has demonstrated at youth level that he can be a lethal finisher when put through on goal.
The talented teenager may well get his first taste of senior action in England this season via cup competitions, and should the first team strikers’ current barren run continue, Sorensen may yet be fast-tracked into Premier League action. In fact, Football FanCast’s recent poll has revealed that an incredible 76% of Newcastle fans want him to start against Southampton this Saturday.
