Whenever Newcastle United chase a striker it never seems to be a simple process, especially when agents get involved and when we are all of a sudden told that Shola Ameobi is flying in training.
Bafetimbi Gomis currently appears to be stuck right in the middle of the brinkmanship going on between Newcastle United and the player’s agents. A transfer fee and wages had been agreed as the player looked set to move on from Lyon. However, the transfer hit an all too predictable mysterious glitch that rears its ugly head in one form or another every summer with a striking target for the Magpies.
It is clear that an addition to the forward line would be a real boost to Newcastle’s prospects of condemning last season as an anomaly in their rejuvenation of recent times.
A lot of this success has been built around purchasing a strong network of hungry French stars and Gomis looked to be the next French import to jump onto the St James’ Park conveyor belt.
There is still hope in some quarters that Newcastle will be able to wrap this transfer deal up before the clock strikes midnight on September 2nd, but if you needed any more convincing, here’s FIVE reasons why Pardew should keep going until Gomis signs on the dotted line.
