According to Mirror Football, Costa Rica's World Cup talisman Joel Campbell could be sent out on loan to Premier League side Newcastle next season.

The Arsenal youngster, who spent last term with Olympiacos and has dramatically increased his stock at Brazil 2014, is reportedly being used as leverage in the Gunners' pursuit of Magpies defender Mathieu Debuchy.

With Bacary Sagna joining Manchester City, the France right-back has been billed as his replacement, and will allegedly arrive at the Emirates for a £12million fee.

But with the Magpies still in need of serious bolstering after their disappointing end to last season, it's unlikely Campbell will be Alan Pardew's final acquisition of the summer.

With that in mind, here's a list of FIVE stars who could soon follow the 22 year-old to Tyneside.

With Mathieu Debuchy on his way to Arsenal, the Magpies have reportedly sourced a replacement right-back in World Cup star Daryl Janmaat.

Having continually excelled in the Eredivisie throughout spells with Den Haag, Heerenveen and current club Feyenoord, for whom he grabbed five assists last season, the 24 year-old comes highly rated.

But reported interest in the defender, valued at £5million, from Manchester United could prove a stumbling block for Newcastle.

MICAH RICHARDS

Micah Richards

Another right-sided defender known to be on the Tyneside radar is Manchester City misfit Micah Richards.

The 26 year-old contributed a vital six assists to the Citizens' Premier League title in 2012 - the most of any top flight defender that season.

But a combination of injuries and the rise of Pablo Zabaleta has seen him make just seven league appearances in the two years since.

Boasting brutal athleticism, aerial ability, pace and power, whilst also capable of playing at centre-back, as demonstrated in the below video, the occasional England international has a lot to offer the Magpies backline.

In a transfer saga so lengthy, bitter and repetitive it wouldn't be out of place in a soap opera, Newcastle are reportedly planning another push in their arduous attempts to sign Montpellier talisman Remy Cabella.

But in a season of great turmoil at Old Trafford, the 21 year-old went on to make just two Premier League appearances before being shipped out on loan to Cardiff in January, where he similarly failed to have a significant impact.

The Newcastle manager appears determined to give the once-capped England international another chance in the top flight however, and the Express believe Louis van Gaal is prepared to sell...
