As reported by The Chronicle, Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez is hoping to complete a January deal for Chelsea winger Kenedy.
The Magpies badly need to strengthen their squad this month with the fight to avoid relegation set to intensify when Premier League action returns after a break for the FA Cup.
One area that could use reinforcement is their left flank, with depth lacking both at left-back and further forward in Rafa Benitez’s side.
The Chronicle report that in order to help solve that, Benitez is hoping to complete a deal for Chelsea’s Kenedy, who is struggling to secure first team football at Stamford Bridge this season.
Kenedy has limited experience but plenty of potential and regular football in the north east could be massively beneficial for both the player and Newcastle themselves.
He has the versatility to play at left-back or in the attacking third and has shown glimpses of quality in his appearances for Chelsea over the last couple of years.
So far this season his appearances for Antonio Conte’s first team have been limited to domestic cup competitions but he has helped the Blues into the semi-finals of the EFL Cup, playing 90 minutes in all three rounds so far and getting a goal in the tie against Nottingham Forest.
In terms of budget signings this month, he could be the perfect option to add much needed depth to Newcastle’s left flank and given more minutes in the Premier League, could prove to be a hit.
