The Spaniard has been at St James’ Park since signing for the club from Tenerife in 2014 and shone last season in the black and white shirt after initially struggling for a first-team chance.
Perez has played a big role in the recent revival at Newcastle, notching the winner against Spurs on Sunday, while also playing a part, albeit a brief one, in the victory over Liverpool a week before.
There has been speculation surrounding the 22-year-old’s future in light of his recent showings, with both United and Spurs having been linked with January moves.
And speaking to IBTimes UK, Perez refused to shut down the rumours:
“I just know the same as you,
“What I hear, what I read. It is a great pleasure for me (to be linked with Man United and Spurs).
“It is incredible, something very big and that’s because I’m doing well but I must go on. It’s my job.
“You never know. Football takes many turns.”
A move for Perez on both United and Spurs’ part appears to make sense, with the former having struggled for goals in league action this season, while the latter are short of attacking options.
