It looks like Newcastle are doomed to relegation

The bubble of optimism Rafa Benitez brought to Newcastle’s St James’ Park seems to have burst. Just a few short weeks ago the Magpies took one last throw of the relegation dice as they sacked Steve McClaren and replaced him with a manager that started the season in charge of REAL MADRID, but the gamble hasn’t yet paid dividends.

Granted, Benitez started with champions-elect, Leicester City (jinxed it now, haven’t we?) and a North East Derby with Sunderland, but many were expecting Saturday’s ‘six-pointer’ with fellow relegation battlers to be the one in which the club may get their first win under the Spaniard. Alas, dramatic events saw the Canaries down their northern rivals, leaving Benitez’s men six points adrift of safety with just seven matches to play – albeit they do have a game in hand over Norwich in 17th, but that’s against Manchester City!

We at FFC Towers think things are looking bleak for the Tynesiders, and it seems like you lot do, too! We put the big question out there to football fans today, and the results came in with a whopping 75% of voters backing Newcastle for the drop.

There’s a long way to go, but has Rafa got enough time to summon some Istanbul 2005-esqiue magic?
