Newcastle defender Daryl Janmaat has backed manager Rafa Benitez to keep the club in the Premier League, report the Chronicle Live.
The Magpies are second bottom in the league with just eight games left and face a crunch tie away at Norwich on April 2nd.
However, the Dutch right-back has praised the Spanish coach, who sensationally took over from Steve McClaren despite only leaving Real Madrid two months prior to that.
‘We have a top class manager now’, stated the 27-year old Holland international.
‘We have to believe he can get us to stay in the Premier League.’
‘He has had a positive effect. It has been organised, the way we played at Leicester and against Sunderland.’
‘We have to keep doing that and looking up.’
Despite the dreadful two seasons Janmaat has spent on Tyneside, he is one of few players who have kept their reputation reasonably high after a string of impressive performances.
So much so, that he has been linked with a move to European giants Juventus.
