After being linked with a loan move to Newcastle earlier this week, The Chronicle journalist Lee Ryder has provided an update on the club's pursuit of Ademola Lookman.Lookman, 22, joined RB Leipzig on a permanent deal last summer, penning a five-year contract with the Bundesliga side. The former Everton attacker has only made four appearances for his German club this season, though, including just three outings in the league.

According to Ryder, an offer "is in place", but there is certainly no agreement between Newcastle and the player.

What's more, the journalist has claimed that other Premier League and European clubs are closely monitoring developments, suggesting that Steve Bruce's side will not have a clear run at the former England Under-21 international.

Lookman only made 36 Premier League appearances during his time at Everton, finding the back of the net on just one occasion in England's top flight.
