Majority of Newcastle fans would re-sign Andros Townsend for £30million

Newcastle United have been linked with a move for former winger Andros Townsend all summer, and a recent report in The Times suggested that the Magpies would have to fork out £30million to sign the Crystal Palace player.

The England international signed for Newcastle in January 2016 but only stayed for six months as he couldn’t prevent their relegation to the Championship.

He did put in some impressive performances during his short time there, scoring four goals and assisting a further two in 12 starts.

Since moving to Crystal Palace he has become an integral member of the team when he’s fit, and with Wilfred Zaha on the other wing they have a deadly attack at times.

We asked Newcastle fans in our poll whether they would re-sign the pacy winger at his £30million valuation and 66 per cent said they would.

For a player valued at £13.5million on Transfermarkt, it does seem that Newcastle would be paying over the odds to land their target, but that is the way the market is going, and clearly the Newcastle fans think Townsend is worth it.
