Monaco have joined the growing number of clubs showing an interest in Hatem Ben Arfa and could make a bid for the Newcastle star, according to the Sunderland Echo.
Toon boss Alan Pardew fears that he could lose one or two of his star players this summer if Europe’s big guns come in with large offers and Monaco will test his resolve by making a move for Ben Arfa.
The French outfit are splashing the cash after winning promotion back to Lique 1 and are also on the verge of landing Radamel Falcao from Atletico Madrid in a deal worth close to £51million.
They have also spent £60million to capture Porto duo James Rodriguez and Joao Moutinho, and reports in France say that Ben Arfa is next on their wanted list.
The 26-year-old, who is under contract at the club until 2016, has had his problems on the injury front this season but Pardew will still want to keep hold of the playmaker.
Monaco, who are bankrolled by Russian billionaire owner Dmitry Rybolovlev, are ready to bid £10million but that is unlikely to tempt Newcastle into selling.
