Steve Bruce was questioned about possible January incomings in his Manchester City pre-match press conference, and his response has not been greeted well by Newcastle fans.

The former Aston Villa boss suggested that he was happy with the players he currently has at his disposal, and will only take a look if a player pops up who may improve the side.

Given the current predicament, which has seen him win only four out of 14 matches heading into their clash with City this afternoon, it is a little surprising that he is adopting such a stance, particularly when he is so limited in the way he can set-up a team.

Such restrictions have meant Bruce has had to operate with a back five more often than not, and though he added two strikers over the summer in Joelinton and Andy Carroll, the attack is badly in need of an upgrade, as the Brazilian and Yoshinori Muto are the only strikers to have scored this term.

Despite that, it seems the Magpies will be quiet in January, and that has produced some irate supporters, who fail to understand how Bruce can be happy with his squad.

As a result, there has been criticism aimed at his way, with a lack of ambition and a cosying up to Mike Ashley two accusations thrown at him, as the responses below evidence.
