Newcastle ace looking to join ‘European giant’

Hatem Ben Arfa has hinted that he’s ready to turn his back on Newcastle and Hull at the end of the season in a bid to sign for one of the “biggest clubs in Europe”.

The Frenchman is currently on loan with the Tigers after being frozen out in the North East by Alan Pardew.

Reports suggested that Ben Arfa’s attitude and fitness – he reported back to pre-season training with the Magpies 1.5kg overweight – were the major factors behind Newcastle’s decision to axe him.

And with Pardew still not a fan of the 27-year-old, an extended contract at St James’ Park appears unlikely.

However Ben Arfa himself is not fazed by proceedings and says that he has his sights set on securing a free transfer to a top level club:

“In the past, I only thought about myself. I thought I was alone in the world.” He is quoted by The Mirror.

“I am very fragile, too fragile.

“Being a free agent next summer? It is huge pressure. I have used up all my credits. It is like playing Mario – I have one life remaining.

“I have to take care, but I will take on the challenge.

“Playing for one of the biggest clubs in Europe? I will achieve it.”
