Newcastle are aiming to agree a £10m deal with Swansea City for midfielder Jonjo Shelvey imminently, according to Wales Online.
The 23-year old has been linked with a move away from the Liberty Stadium ever since former boss Garry Monk was axed in early December.
Crystal Palace and West Ham have also been credited with interest, though the Magpies are said to be closely monitoring his situation.
While strengthening a rival in the battle to retain Premier League survival is not a usual move in the winter market, the former Liverpool star is believed to have fallen out with people at the club.
In fact, the England international was left out of the matchday squad in the loss away to Manchester United recently all together.
It is understood that the Swans would be willing to listen to offers for Shelvey due to the falling out in South Wales, despite his wonderful start to the season and the fact he only penned a new four-year deal in the summer.
