Alan Pardew has warned Joe Kinnear to get a move on and bring in some new players, according to the Daily Star.
The Newcastle boss has grown frustrated with the lack of transfer activity at St James’ Park this summer, and has revealed he is ‘pushing’ new director of football Kinnear into getting a move on with regards to bringing in fresh faces.
Newcastle supporters have endured a frustrating summer so far, following the controversial appointment of unpopular former boss Kinnear as Director of Football.
The club have also had to accept that star striker Papiss Cisse is set to leave the club this summer, after refusing to wear the club’s new shirt, sponsored by loan company ‘Wonga’, as it goes against his religious beliefs.
Add all of this to the fact the club are the only Premier League side yet to bring in a senior player since the end of last season, and you can see why tension is boiling at the North East club.
The club have been linked with Aston Villa striker Darren Bent and Lyon forward Bafetimbi Gomis, a player Pardew admits he would like to see join the club.
“I’m pushing Joe to get a transfer in,” Pardew said.
“We need a boost now. Gomis is a player who would suit us and we should pursue it strongly.”
Shola Ameobi meanwhile has been told he will not be leaving the club this summer.
“Shola’s under contract here. With my striker situation at the moment, I need as many as I can get,” Pardew added.
