Newcastle braced for Cisse bids

Newcastle face an uphill task to convince star striker Papiss Cisse to remain at St James’ Park as speculation surrounding a January transfer window exit increase.

The Daily Mirror reports that Turkish giants Galatasaray are interested in the Senegalese hitman, who is currently away on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Galatasaray are looking to strengthen their strikeforce and with money to spend, they see the 29 year-old Cisse as an affordable and enticing option.

However, Premier League side Swansea are also monitoring Cisse’s situation, as are a number of clubs in the Middle East, which may force the Turkish club to move quickly.

Cisse has scored nine goals this season and has two and a half years left on his current Newcastle contract.

Should a move to Galatasary materialise, Cisse would not be the only player with links to Newcastle to move to Turkey in recent times. Former Magpies and Chelsea striker Demba Ba joined Besiktas last year, and is Cisse’s strike partner for Senegal.
