Newcastle look set to land Tottenham winger Andros Townsend on loan next month, according to reports in the Newcastle Chronicle.
The 24-year old is reportedly set to leave White Hart Lane after losing his place and being spotted arguing with a fitness coach following a game with Aston Villa in November.
An England international, Townsend has been linked with a raft of Premier League clubs ahead of next month’s transfer window as he bids to earn a place in Roy Hodgson’s Three Lions squad.
He had begun to feature prominently in North London after a succession of loan spells during his time on the payroll, most notably with QPR.
However, Magpies boss Steve McClaren is now set out to pounce as he looks to stave off relegation in the North East.
Despite their recent win over Liverpool, the Toon Army still face the very real prospect of relegation following some thoroughly dreadful performances this campaign.
